RED ROCKS TRAIL, WOODLAND PARK, CO

July 13, 2023

1.7 miles, 300’ elevation gain, 1:45 roundtrip time

On a beautiful July morning Teresa and I went to explore the Red Rocks Trail north of Woodland Park. Not to be confused with the far more popular Red Rocks Open Space in Colorado Springs, this area has scenic red rock formations in the midst of a pine and aspen forest. We drove about 4 miles north of Woodland Park and pulled into the trailhead parking lot off to the right side of the highway. A dirt road continued through the woods to a campground. We headed up the gentle trail through the woods and in about a half mile reached the first of the rock formations scattered about in the trees. We spent the next hour or so wandering about and scrambling up into the rocks to explore.

After we explored the area for a while we hiked back to the truck.
